As a seller I have owned and sold 100's of vintage fly line spools with this backing on it. Some spools are 50 years old and the backing is as good as new. How long will this backing last? My guess is one hundred years.

Micron has been on my reels during a lifetime of fly fishing. In fact one of my earliest fly reels was an English-made Cortland multiplier reel, in fact, I still bring it out to demonstrate a multiplier reel when giving my fly tackle presentations at my schools, workshops, and camps. Some of my Micron is doubtless, decades old, how often should I change it? I just purchased a supply.
