Striped Bass Blitz Breakdown

Targeting Striped Bass on the fly requires capitalizing on quick opportunities and feeding windows.

We designed our Cold Salt Striped Bass Blitz line with a short compact head featuring a 20 ft. body that is powerful and easy loading. A shorter 3 ft. front taper easily turns over large striper patterns as well as weighted patterns. The 3 ft. back taper helps load the line quickly with minimal false casting when fish are close and casts need to be as efficient as possible.

Built on a braided nylon core, this line features our signature Cold Salt coating for staying supple and memory free in the coldest of conditions. Finished in Ice Blue and light Blue, this line is stealthy yet traceable.

The Cold Salt Striped Bass Blitz is perfect for capitalizing on quick shots and blitzing fish.

FAQ

Our Cold Salt Striped Bass Blitz Line is built for cooler environments and will perform best in temperatures between 30 - 70 degrees (F). Our Cold Salt PVC coating is designed to remain extremely supple and memory free in the coldest saltwater conditions.

The taper design for our Striped Bass Blitz line was built to be aggressive up front for turning over larger patterns and weighted flies. The short front taper paired with the short body effortlessly turns over these variety of patterns with minimal false casts. The short rear taper helps excel in quick shooting and minimal false casts, hitting your target in a timely fashion. This line is built a line and a half size heavy to load faster action rods and give you maximum loading power in a shorter period of time.

The Ice Blue and Light Blue finish distinguishes taper change and easily identifies the prime loading point for casting. This color combination also provides stealth and traceability whether fishing from shore or casting off a boat.

Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.

I used this fly line this morning for the first time at a harbor jetty nearby and casting 1/0 streamers for bonito and loved the performance! Worked well in the 65 degree water. I will order the same line for my 10 wt. Thank you,Cortland.

No other line like it.

I've fished the Blitz in all line weights from 30 degrees to 75 degrees, exclusively in fresh water. Everything from river smallmouth to great lakes flats to river musky. It is the best shooting, best loading, most consistent intermediate line I have used (have also fished titan intermediate, sniper 4 season, and outbound). My go-to most days on the water. I will say that it gets "coily" if you don't stretch it every couple sessions, and it tends to pick up dirt and grime pretty quickly, which is easy to fix with the little line cleaner packs cortland sells. I've paid full retail for every spool of it I own, and would do so again.

Gave me a ton of confidence

I came from some pretty cheap line previously, switched to this blitz line and it gave me a ton of confidence in my cast. Actually fly fishing a lot more in more conditions now.
