Pike Musky Sink 4 Breakdown

Our Specialty Series Pike Musky Sink 4 features a 30 ft. type 4 sinking head with a short 3 ft. front taper for turning over large, air-resistant flies. The short 3 ft. back taper helps load this line quickly and makes it extremely shootable. Intermediate running line removes any hinges in the line and gives you a smooth transition into the depths.

This dual colored line features our low stretch braided nylon core for consistent, powerful hook sets and ultimate stopping power. Our signature Shooting Technology keeps your line remaining slick, supple and fast shooting. The gray and brown color combination distinguishes taper change and is traceable yet stealthy in Esox environments.

FAQ

Our Pike Musky fly lines are built to perform in both cold and warm water environments. This line will perform best in temperatures between 30 and 70 degrees (F).

The taper design for our Pike Musky Lines were built overly aggressive to cast large flies and punch through wind. The short body and short rear taper allows for minimal false casts while achieving maximum distance. The short front taper will turn over any large fly or weighted pattern with ease. This line is built overweighted for quick loading and fast shooting.

The brown and gray color combination distinguishes taper change and proper loading point. These colors are stealthy yet traceable in freshwater environments.

Cleaning your fly line is very important especially when fishing saltwater. Simply pull line off your reel into a clean bucket or tub of freshwater. Put roughly 1oz or more of Cortland’s Line Cleaner solution onto a clean rag or towel. Firmly squeeze the towel with Pro Line Cleaner around the line and slowly pull line through the towel. You should be able to see dirt or discolored streaks on the towel when finished.

Predator Perfection

This line has a whole lot of power, had to keep reminding myself the large Muskie Buford style flies I was hucking were being thrown on a 380 grain line, felt like I was throwing something with even more power and weight behind it. Thus far, it works well in upper 30 and lower 40 degree water temps with air temps in the 40's and 50's but the line certainly seems to have ample rigidity for warmer weather too. The head length is perfect, just long enough you can still roll cast off snags in a river environment and make longer casts without having to shoot a ton of running line, but adequate power to huck large flies. Cortland did a great job with this line, looking forward to trying other lines in this series....

Great Line for Predators!

Really great line, loads very well for the line weight on the same weight rod. Feels similar to other competitive brands, but I know the core is stronger with Cortland so I'm switching everything over. We rose 9 muskies on the first float with this new line, so its gotta be good!

That’s why the Pike Musky Sink 4 fly line by Cortland Line, engineered right in Cortland, New York, is trusted by serious anglers who need their flies to drop into the strike zone fast. This line features a type 4 sinking tip that sinks at 4-5 inches per second, allowing you to reach fish holding deep along weed lines, drop-offs, and submerged structure—especially in early spring or late fall when water temps are lower.

Built with an aggressive head design and a strong core, this line punches large, air-resistant flies into windy conditions with ease. Optimized for Depth, Control, and Big Streamers

The Pike Musky Sink 4 features a 30-foot aggressive head that loads quickly and delivers power where it counts. Its intermediate running line ensures a smooth transition while maintaining control during long casts.
