Dialing In Your Line and Leader System

Some products are built to fill very specific gaps in an angler’s setup. A slower sink rate, a deeper presentation, a cleaner turnover leader, a stealthier saltwater line, or a tougher fluorocarbon material can make the difference between “close enough” and the right tool for the water in front of you. This lineup brings together several Cortland lines and leaders designed to help anglers better control depth, presentation, turnover, and durability across freshwater and saltwater applications.

Streamer Sink Tip 10 Type 3

The Streamer Sink Tip 10 Type 3 adds a slower sinking option to the Streamer Series. With a 10 ft. Type 3 sink tip at 3-4 IPS, this line is useful when a faster sink rate is too much for the water in front of you.

It keeps the same aggressive taper as the Streamer Sink Tip 10, but fishes higher in the water column. It is a strong choice for shallower water, mid-to-upper column presentations, fishing over structure, and covering water for trout, bass, and other freshwater species.

Streamer Sink Tip 25

The Streamer Sink Tip 25 is a heavier sinking option for big rivers and stillwater fisheries. It steps up from the Streamer Sink Tip 15 with a 25 ft. Type 6 sink tip at 6-7 IPS and a floating running line.

This design works well for both wade and boat fishing. The floating running line is easy to pick up at the end of a retrieve when wading and helps reduce hang-ups around drop-offs. The short, aggressive head is built to turn over large, bulky patterns for trout, bass, and other freshwater species.

Streamer Dredge 30

The Streamer Dredge 30 is the deepest, most powerful option in this group of Streamer Series lines. It was developed for deep rivers and lakes, with a 30 ft. Type 8 sinking head at 8-9 IPS and an intermediate running line.

This line is built to turn over large articulated trout streamers and keep the fly down throughout the retrieve. The intermediate running line helps maintain depth and removes hinge points in the system, making it a strong choice when fish are holding deep.

Tropic Plus Ghost Tip

The Tropic Plus Ghost Tip is designed for presenting flies just below the surface without spooking wary fish. The 9 ft. clear intermediate tip offers a stealthy presentation, while the floating head remains easy to handle, shoot, and pick up for the next cast.

The taper was built for precision in tropical saltwater situations, especially when anglers need to carry line in the air, cast to moving targets, and make clean presentations in both windy and slicked-out conditions.

Tropic Plus Clear Intermediate

The Tropic Plus Clear Intermediate was built for stealth and versatility. The fully clear profile and 1.5-2 IPS sink rate make it useful for cutting through surf, working the flats, or fishing around mangroves.

The thinner overall line profile helps cut through wind when casting and through water when searching for fish below the surface. It is ideal for tarpon, permit, and snook when fish are holding just under the surface or when conditions make a floating line less effective.

Streamer Nylon Tapered Leaders

Streamer Nylon Tapered Leaders are built to turn over large streamers and feel like a natural extension of your streamer fly line.

The 7 ft. leader pairs well with floating lines, while the 4 ft. leader is a strong fit for sink-tip and full-sinking lines. Offered in 03X-3X or 8 lb.-20 lb., these leaders make rigging faster and help create a cleaner transition from line to fly.

Fluorocarbon XTR Leader Material

Fluorocarbon XTR Leader Material was developed as a versatile, long-lasting leader material for demanding water and hard-fighting fish.

XTR features a crystal-clear finish, strong abrasion resistance, and a balance of suppleness and stiffness for dependable knot strength and natural presentations. It is a strong option around mangroves, jetties, coral, toothy fish, or freshwater structure where leader durability matters.

Built for More Specific Setups

Each of these products gives anglers a more specific tool for the conditions in front of them. From slower sink tips to deep dredging lines, stealthy tropical presentations, and abrasion-resistant leader material, the lineup helps make rigging more intentional across freshwater and saltwater applications.
